This article is going to lay out how to build Adsense sites using WordPress. The sites’ structure presented here is optimized for free search traffic. If you are new to WordPress please refer to How to Build a Website with WordPress. You may also learn how to configure WordPress.
Basic Niche Site Structure
When we build a typical website with WordPress, generally content appears on posts and pages only contain information such as contact information, privacy policies, disclaimers, etc. But for Adsense sites, we will be putting our most important content on the pages, and having supporting posts that link to these pages in order to get better search engine rankings. Each keyword phrase that we plan to target from our keyword research step is going to become a page on our sites.
Here’s the overview of how we are going to construct our AdSense sites:
1) Every keyword we are targeting by our keyword group will be the title of a page on our site, not a post
2) Each of these keywords will also become a category for our posts
3) Each page will have at least two posts linking to it via anchor text
Pages of AdSense Sites
We are going to create pages that is highly optimized for on-page SEO. These pages will include:
• The keyword will be included in the title of the page
• The keyword will appear in the first and last paragraph of the page. Prefer to get the keyword into the very first sentence.
• The page should contain 750-1200 words. In this way, your page will rank much easier than those pages with 350 words.
• Aim for keyword density of 1-2%. To achieve 1% density, try to get it in one every 100 words.
• Each page will contain at least one, preferably two images with alt text related to your keywords
• Each page will have a YouTube video, related to the page’s keywords embedded at the bottom of the article
• Each page via either the theme settings or via All-in-One SEO plugin will have the title in an H1 tag, will include a keyword-rich meta description, keywords and appropriate tags
• Each page will include subtitles related to our keywords in H2 tags
Categories of AdSense Sites
For WordPress, pages are never in Categories. Posts belong in Categories. We are going to name the categories exactly the same as the keywords in our keyword group.
In WordPress, you have two options for creating Categories. You can either pre-create all of your Categories before you write your posts, or you can just add them to a post when you are writing it. To create new categories, click on the “Posts” tab on the left hand side of your Dashboard until it opens and then click on Categories.
• In the “Name” box, type in your keyword.
• For slug you need to enter your keyword again, all in lower case, with a hyphen between each word
• Parent – Don’t need to type anything
• description – Don’t need to type anything
I think it’s easier just to do this all at once.
Posts of AdSense Sites
Now we create supporting posts that link to these pages in order to get better search engine rankings.
• Posts should be anywhere between 300-500 words in length.
• You should have at least two posts pointing back at each related page with anchor text.
• Get an image with alt tags on the post.
• If you can insert a related video, will be better.
WordPress Themes
When we are building an Adsense site, our ultimate goal is to get people to click on our ads. Of course, our site should offer good content to visitors. Although an attractive looking site is good, a plain and simple site has the best CTR. You can find a number of free themes optimized for Adsense just by doing a search for that term. These AdSense themes are typically very plain in design so as not to distract the readers, and in most cases allow you to insert your Adsense code directly so you don’t have to use plugins for ad placement. These themes will automatically place your ad code in locations that have been proven to increase CTR.
WordPress Plugins
WordPress has so many free Plugins. However, remember that every plugin you add to your site uses resources, which slows down your site.
The following is a basic list of plugins that I like to use for Adsense sites.
• Contact Form 7
• All-in-One-SEO
• SEO Smart Links
• Google XML Sitemaps
• Search Terms Tagging 2
• WordPress Firewall 2
• Whydowork Adsense
To build AdSense Sites using WordPress is not difficult as long as you take action and follow through the steps above. Please remember to add a Privacy Policy to your AdSense sites to comply with Adsense terms of service. Although SEO is very important, please keep in mind that to “write naturally” for a human, not for an indexing robot. Only high quality websites with valuable content can offer good user experience, and the AdSense Sites you built will have a good ranking in the long run.
If you have other WordPress plugins that you like, we appreciate that you can leave a comment and tell us about them. We also welcome any questions and suggestions on how to build AdSense Sites using WordPress to maximize your AdSense earnings.
