Choose wisely, since you need substantial time to set up and maintain a website. SEO is a very import technique, which helps you drive visitors to your website by search engines, such as Google and Bing. Choose a domain name that contain the keyword that are related to your business.
Traffic comes when people type a keyword into the address bar and add .com on the end. Domains can be valuable internet real estate.
How To Choose your Domain Name
Google tends to give weight to keywords in the domain name. This increases the importance of selecting a good name considering SEO. When choosing a domain name for SEO purposes, there are three main factors to consider.
Easy to Branding
Brand makes you stand out. Any successful business need to build a Brand. Please refer to 5 General Rules to choose a right domain for your website.
Here we need mention that for SEO, do not choose a domain name like keyword-keyword-keyword-keyword.com. Domain names with hyphens have no branding value. They have limited SEO value. They are too generic, and lack credibility. Some people think this kind of domain names look spammy. Some directory editors often reject these names on sight, because they think such names are often associated with low-quality content.
However, for a startup, we usually do not have budget for marketing, if no one knows the business name, no one search for it, how can I ask people come to my website?
Easy to Ranking
Keywords, which your business targeting are the key for SEO. When Choose a name for your site, and decide on a domain name, try to combine the lessons of branding and SEO, namely, using the approach of “keyword + branding”.
This is a good approach to use. Take your chosen keyword, and simply add another word on the end, BusinessHub, OnlineBusinessLab, CarSmith, etc. These words have SEO value built into them, because people are forced to use your keywords in the link. Also, currently Google values a keyword within the domain name for ranking purposes. Finally, such a name retains an element of unique branding.
These types of domain names score high on the rank-ability and link-ability meter. They are generic enough to rank well for the keyword term, yet contain branding difference to be memorable.
.com or .net
The .com TLD (top-level domain) is by far the most widely accepted extension for a domain name. If you are looking for a domain name for a business then it is even more important to choose a .com for your domain name because of the credibility. Dot com’s have much high price than .org or .net. “Keyword + .com” is the ideal choice. If you think that you may want to sell this site in the future, your best bet is to try to find a .com domain whenever possible. To take SEO advantage, some people register or buy the cheaper .net or .org equivalent, build the site, and rank well for the “keyword + net, or +org”. However, people guess the domain name buy using .com first.
If the keyword you are targeting was taken, you might consider the equivalent keyword and see if any of the related keyword terms fit. This can be a good strategy to use if all the good generic keyword names are gone. It might get you close enough to the SEO benefit without paying the high price.
Exact Match Domain
Exact match domains are a key component in getting your sites to rank, although Google is supposedly in the process of making this a less important ranking factor than it currently is. In the mean time, it certainly can’t hurt you to go with an exact match domain whenever possible.
I’m sure that you will have the frustrating experience of trying to find an exact match domain only to find that the .com, .net and .org have already been taken. However, you can still get one with a couple of slightly sneaky tactics.
Stop Words
A “stop word” is a word in the URL of a domain that the search engines filter out when they are posting search results. By using these stop words, you can get a good TLD containing your keywords.
Some of the stop words are:
all, also, any, at, be, best
You can get a list of stop words here.
For example, there are a couple of stop words and how you could use them to get your exact match domain. Assume that your target keyword is “chicken Recipes.” You find that there is not an exact match TLD available for chickenrecipes.com, .net or .org. So you find a stop word and add it to the keyword to get your exact match domain. Some of the examples could be mychickenrecipes.net, or everyoneschickenrecipes.com, allchickenrecipes.com or getchickenrecipes.org. The search engines will read all of these as “chicken recipes” so you can buy your domain.
If you try many keywords combined with stop words to get your TLD and you are still can not get one, try adding a number instead. An example of this could be chickenrecipes101.com, or something similar to that.
Another tactic is to add a letter to the keyword to get a TLD. If chickenrecipes.com isn’t available, you might try to get “echickenrecipes.com” or “chickenrecipespro.com”.
Choose a right domain name for your website or business as soon as possible before someone else takes it!
